Time to Trick or Treat!

We do not celebrate Halloween like they used to a long time ago. For my family, the fun part is getting to dress up in costumes!

My kids play in costumes a lot all throughout the year! Last year we were at Tokyo Disney on Halloween and didn't get to do the whole experience, so my kids were so excited to pick out a new costume... especially because they are growing bigger and we need to start passing on costumes!

Halloween is about tradition to me. My mom loved Halloween. Growing up we had a walk in closet full of costumes and mostly accessories for us to just whip together any costume we wanted, mostly as late as an hour before trick or treating! My mom also would make homemade root beer each year, bringing the neighborhood adults to "trick or treat" for root beer! It is so fun to make on Halloween because of the dry ice that creates a smoke like affect!

A Witch for Halloween

My Rylie girl... she is such a girly girl.... BUT she plays with her two brothers daily and loves all that they do as well!

Luckily this year I convinced Rylie not to wear a princess dress with a scary mask head like her brothers! Instead she chose to be a cute little witch!

 

Groot for Halloween

Who doesn't love Groot (Guardians of the Galaxy if you don't know)? I am so happy my Preston chose Groot... so perfect for him! It was the last one in the store and he was so excited!

Last year we did not get to trick or treat because we were traveling on an airplane! My kids are so excited to have a trick or treating experience again!

A Scary Halloween this year

Bryce has been asking for years now to get the scariest costumes and have the scariest house at Halloween time. This year.... I finally caved.

My mom's favorite holiday growing up was Halloween, and she made it so much fun for me and my sisters. BUT to me the best part of Halloween was always just getting to dress up and be someone else for a night, which is what I always let the kids do!

I LOVE to scare people! Seriously, it's my favorite! Bryce is just like me and maybe too much like me... I love to scare people but NOT to get scared!

I always want to protect my kids from truly terrifying stuff, and that includes the SCARY part of Halloween. Bryce is getting older, and with his love for scaring people, I caved and finally let him get a creepy scary costume. My ONE rule to him was "Do not scare me with it." lol

A storm came through these parts recently and cooled the weather down to be BEAUTIFUL! It is starting to feel like Fall time already and it is the BEST time of the year... holiday time, perfect weather, and most people including myself are just all around happier. I can't wait!

Here in Okinawa I have learned the hard way that whenever holiday stuff is being sold, no matter how crazy early, you need to get it now because the whole island will be completely gone of it weeks before the holiday. When you realize all the holiday stuff is gone on the island, you'd think... well I will just order it then.... WRONG... it takes a minimum of 10 days shipping Priority to get here if you are lucky! So basically we had to get costumes while we could... and yes it is September still. lol
